Accommodation in the Wye Valley

Jan and Jonathan Knibbs welcome you to Cedars House which they have lovingly restored over the years. They married in 1992 and bought the house a few years later. It provided a lovely family home for their children Jake and twins Alice and Matt and gave them the space they needed to run around and play many games such as "hide and seek".

It also provided plenty of room for running their businesses and leisure pursuits. Jonathan runs an upmarket chauffeuring service, driving many famous authors and celebrities. Jan is an award-winning textile artist and fashion designer, creating couture bespoke embroidered garments and accessories for special occasions and items of "wearable art".

Cedars House also proved to be the perfect party venue and Jan and Jonathan became well known for hosting many memorable themed parties and murder mysteries where Jan's collection of vintage clothes and finds came into their own.

As their children grew up and started to go their separate ways, the house began to feel like an "empty nest" and echoed with the happy memories it had witnessed. It became apparent that it could become the perfect venue for other large groups to commemorate a special occasion.

As Jan has used her design skills and eye for detail to create a lovely vintage inspired "shabby chic" atmosphere they thought it would be perfect for a lovely "vintage hen party" or indeed any special get together and they have spent the last few years getting it ready.

As a designer, Jan has also built up many contacts in the fashion photography/styling industry so can also arrange make-overs and photo shoots with the possibility of dressing up in her collection of vintage clothing and lingerie. To make it even more special, you can partake in a quintessential tea party with a table laden with vintage crockery and home made delicacies.

Alternatively, she can offer workshops sharing her extensive sewing and embroidery skills to help you create something really beautiful and personal for your special day. If you prefer she can also arrange a life drawing, photography or jewellery class.

Jan and Jonathan are now ready to welcome you to their lovely Georgian home which they have prepared for your enjoyment. You can arrive to a warm welcome, tea party or workshop and then be left to enjoy the company of your friends and family to soak up the relaxing atmosphere or partake in the many leisure pursuits available locally.

We hope that you enjoy your stay here in the "home away from home" we have created for you as much as we enjoyed living here.

Whitchurch is a village in Herefordshire named after the church of Saint Dubricius which was originally white in colour.

Whitchurch is situated on the A40, connecting nearby Ross-on-Wye to Welsh town Monmouth. It is located near Symonds Yat and the Doward hills, so the village is used to tourists.

There are several pubs within walking distance as well as a shop and Post Office.

History, scenery and good local food provide the main core of what brings people to Herefordshire. For centuries, the area was the main defence against the Welsh, and many battles were fought along the border. Today, those sites form part of the amazing scenery of the county, which provides a great backdrop to a range of outdoor activities, from hill walking, canoeing down the River Wye, abseiling or cycling. Herefordshire is quickly becoming the outdoor county.
