A Lovely Georgian Village House

Cedars House is the perfect place for family and friends to meet up for a relaxing weekend near the famous River Wye. With Monmouth and South Wales just a few miles away and the beautiful Forest of Dean on the doorstep, Whitchurch is the perfect village for time away from it all.

Large Holiday Cottage for up to 18 Guests

Cedars House offers large self-catering accommodation in Whitchurch, Herefordshire. The house has 8 bedrooms which can sleep 18 guests. This is the ideal large holiday cottage in the famous Wye Valley for larger group accommodation.

Situated in the Wye Valley near Symonds Yat, we are centrally located between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, so are within easy reach of the Forest of Dean, South Wales and The Golden Valley. The local area is ideal for those looking for great walking, cycling and canoeing, equally it's a fantastic spot for peace and relaxation too.

Cedars House is a great venue for family get together or group reunion. We welcome families with children and have a couple of travel cots and high chairs available. You can bring up to three well behaved dogs with you when you stay at Cedars House.

Cedars House

Cedars House is a lovely Georgian house, part of an old asylum, set in the beautiful Wye Valley, minutes from the renowned Symonds Yat. Located on the Herefordshire side of the border between England and Wales, the towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are both within easy reach.

Family Friendly Holidays

We welcome families to Cedars House for their annual holiday in beautiful Herefordshire. We have travel cots and high chairs available for very small guests - please request when making and enquiry or booking. There is a selection of games at the house to help entertain younger members of your family.

Stylish Interior Design

The interior has been lovingly restored by award-winning textile and fashion designer Jan Knibbs and her husband, Jonathan. It is brimming with vintage finds from her extensive collection in a romantic, shabby chic style, making it perfect for a family get together.

Room for Everyone

Altogether, Cedars House offers a pretty, welcoming hall, an impressive drawing room with plenty of comfortable seating, a dining room where guests can all eat together, a farmhouse style kitchen with a small dining table and a comfortable TV lounge.

Upstairs there are seven pretty bedrooms, one offering a king-size bed and two singles, two with double beds, one with a double bed and a single bed and three twin bedded rooms. Downstairs there is one bedroom with a single bed. Although there is a ground floor bedroom with a toilet available on the same level, it should be noted that the nearest shower room is up six steps on the half landing of the staircase. All bedding and towels are provided within the cost of the rental.

There are two bathrooms (one of which is en-suite), two en-suite shower rooms plus a separate shower room.

Please check our floor plan to see the actual bed positions in the house.

Great Location

It is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, on the edge of the village of Whitchurch, within easy walking distance of the local shop, various pubs, tourist attractions and stunning countryside.

Whitchurch is located on the A40 between Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye and is easily accessible from the motorway network, making Cedars House the perfect meet up point for all your guests.

There are many activities and historical sites with 30 minutes of Cedars House. Just ten minutes drive away from the house you will find Goodrich Castle, a wonderful ruinous Norman medieval castle.

About Cedars House

Jan and Jonathan Knibbs welcome you to Cedars House which they have lovingly restored over the years. They married in 1992 and bought the house a few years later. It provided a lovely family home for their children Jake and twins Alice and Matt and gave them the space they needed to run around and play many games such as "hide and seek".  The house was turned into quality self catering holiday accommodation in 2015 and is now available as a holiday let with 8 bedrooms sleeping up to 18 guests.

"A lovely place to meet with our friends for walking and eating. Plenty of space and such quirky decor, only wish I had had 50's clothing with me! Had everything we needed and was very clean."

"Lovely and authentic house! The decor was so quaint and unique. Very large and spacious, suited to our every need. It is very well equipped with everything you could need for a long weekend away. We had a get together there and it was absolutely perfect. The garden was also lovely and picturesque. Absolutely loved it and would highly recommend. Jonathan was super helpful and the trip went very smoothly. The area is also really tranquil, there is a pub and convenience store within seconds' walking distance!"

“We stayed at Cedars house for a long weekend and were really pleased with comprehensive arrival instructions and a very clean and tidy home from home. There were 15 of us so we weren’t disappointed with this huge house. Our children described Cedars House as the best hide and seek playground, and with plenty of rooms to choose from, we all had plenty of space to relax. We visited Perrygrove Railway and Puzzlewood which are both just down the road and with a lovely Indian reataurant next door this really was the perfect location. Thank you
for a wonderful stay and we will be back next year. We believe this to be our new annual reunion mini break”.
